Things Said to a Pregnant Woman: a series
A little background for context: our local zoo’s giraffe gave birth last night around midnight. You can watch the adorable baby giraffe here, as a whole lot of Greenville folks watched the birth via webcam.
I was looking at baskets for a home improvement project when a nice lady approached me.
Nice Lady: Oh, when are you due?
Me: December.
NL: When exactly in December?
(why?)
Me: New Year’s Eve, actually.
NL: Speaking of that, the giraffe had her baby last night!
Me: uh huh
(?)
NL: I watched the whole thing! First, you could see the sac, and then pop! There was the baby looking like a pile of bones.
Me: …
NL: Here, I took pictures!
(shows me no less than 35 pictures she took of her computer monitor)
Me: wow
NL: Aren’t you glad you’re not giving birth online?
